Speaking at Adobe Generation Pro Online

Posted by in Advice, Design, Education, Events, Phoenix Studios, Speaking on January 22, 2016

Thrilled to have been invited by Edgegain and Adobe as a guest expert for their Graphics / Illustration online course. It was great to talk to the class about my journey so far and the ups/downs of being a creative in the industry.

You can check out the video for the session here:

Here’s a quick summary of the points I covered:

1. Don’t be afraid to experiment

Courses and tutorials are a way of teaching us the fundamental principles but don’t let that restrict you. Break the rules and try something different. Get out of your comfort zone.

2. Make personal projects

Personal work is often more valuable than the work you do to complete an assignment or get paid. It’s a chance to show your true personality and potentially do the work you love for a client.

3. Make stuff you love

Make things you are truly passionate about and ultimately have fun. We all have to do work so we can pass exams or earn money. But never forget why you’re doing this: to have fun and make something that rocks!

I’ll be speaking at another Adobe Generation online event on February 9th, so stay tuned!
